Satsang

A gathering of good uplifting company.
Includes meditation and discussion.

You are invited to join us for our second Chelsea Satsang (thank you to everyone for coming out October 18th)

Sunday December 6th: 8:00 to 9:30AM

We are happy to say that our dear friend Nathan will be leading the session.

When I asked Nathat to give me a description of what to expect this is what he said: I will speak for about fifteen minutes to begin with. I will talk on the theory behind meditation practice, what it is, how it works, dispell certain myths and offer a technique. I will lead the people into meditation which will last for approximately twenty minutes. I will then lead the folks out of meditation, have them stretch and complete the hour with questions, answers and perhaps a short reading. Nathan also adds: the only thing I really can guarantee is that i'll stick to the time of one hour.

At 9:00AM we serve tea and cookies ( all vegan). No cost but please sign up at the studio.

We are located at 76 Pine Rd. Chelsea Quebec.

***Please note when registering for any event in Chelsea or on Roosevelt ave that we have a dog***

Nathan Vanek

Nathan, whose sanskrit name is Hans Raj, is a gifted teacher and writer. In his life, he has met many masters. He was a Vipassana bikku, (monk,) for several years, studied with the venerable U.N. Goenka in Igatpurri, India, where he participated in a six-month silent retreat. For the next 23 years he lived with his Guru-ji, Swami Shyam, in Kullu, India, where he was awarded an honorary Ph.D. in 1987 for Meditation, Eastern Studies and Spiritual Journalism.
     Nathan communicates the essence of his 35 years of study and experience in his classes and books, building a bridge between India and Canada, the Himalayas and the Gatineau Hills, the transitory and the eternal. Without dwelling on mysticism, Nathan's focus is on helping people live a more relaxed life with a greater sense of well-being. He teaches the ancient technique of meditation in a down to earth, practical fashion. Nathan operates the Centre de la Paix in Wakefield, QC.

Press Release

Live Vitally Now! April 19, 2009 –Wrap Up

An Uplifting & Inspiring Afternoon for All Who Attended!

On April 19 th , 2009, Ottawa's health and wellness leaders kicked off National Volunteer Week with Live Vitally Now! – a health and wellness inaugural event in support of iSisters Technology Mentoring. iSisters is delighted to report that the event was a success – raising almost $500.00!

Participant satisfaction was outstanding as everyone was very satisfied with the event and would definitely attend if offered again next year. As one participant put it, “it's a lovely way to spend an afternoon and reconnect with some fundamentals” while another highlighted, “enormous thanks for an inspiring afternoon.” Many participants came to the event seeking “a personal retreat” and to “stimulate some changes in their health” while at the same time supporting a local non-profit, iSisters Technology Mentoring. Overall, the event left everyone feeling connected with the community, reenergized and inspired.

As a result of this year's success, Core-Elation's Sylvie Gouin, along with Donna Davis and Helen Daniels have committed to volunteering their time again to offer something similar next year, but have promised their will be a few surprises. Thanks to all who attended and for those who didn't get the opportunity, we look forward to seeing you next year!

Happiness Workout

with MaryAnn Carmichael and Megan Green

(Date and time to be annonced)

Would you like to learn how to create a happier life?

In the past 10-15 years, Positive Psychology has effectively demonstrated through brain scans, that specific practices can create reliable shifts – not only in mood-, but at a cellular level in the brainConcepts from centuries old yogic practices overlap with some of these.

Facilitated activities of the Happiness Work-Out include: experiential activities; small and large group sharing; movement, mindfulness, breath and play. My intention is to create an atmosphere where the learning is fun, with gentle but significant transformations of group members. Together we will create a powerful learning and healing experience!

Members will leave the weekend with:

  • an understanding of the myths of happiness;
  • a personal working definition of happiness;
  • a personal action plan: immediate, short and long term steps to create more happiness in life;
  • personal workbook on Happiness, and other resource material.

Pre-registration is required. Group members will receive a few short assignments a few days prior to the weekend to assist with preparing for the workshop.

No previous yoga/therapy experience required, just a conscious intention to create more happiness in your life!
